It's another illustration from my B.A. project. This time, the Hakawati is inspired from the plays of Roger Assaf and Hanane el Hage Ali.
In 1975, Roger Assaf started the Hakawati theatre, (Masrah el Hakawati). It consists on talking about people problems, and the daily struggle of the Lebanese citizens. After the plays were a huge success, the theatre was shut by the government because of the honesty and straight forwardness they treated the subjects, and they were prohibited to have access to it, so they performed in the streets and coffee shops in the city. They were then forced to stand in front of the court for their act of rebellion. They won the case, and went to the mountains to spread their art and to work with the inhabitants.
